Where do you bake Early’s Edibles Cookies?
Early’s Edibles Cookies are baked in a licensed bakery / co-packer facility that has been producing baked goods with restricted ingredients for over 25 years. This facility follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) as deemed necessary by the FDA. Proper handling of equipment, ingredients and finished products are maintained to avoid the risk of contamination between product lines. The production line is sanitized between each product run.
On the days that Early’s Edibles Cookies are baked, the production facility is dedicated gluten free, peanut free and tree nut free. Our cookies are packaged and hermetically sealed on the same day they are baked.
We test every batch of baked cookies in an accredited 3rd party laboratory utilizing ELISA Gluten and Peanut test methods to determine that our products are Gluten Free and Peanut Free to the lowest detectable levels, less than 10 ppm for Gluten allergens and less than 2.5ppm for Peanut allergens. (FDA regulations require less than 20 ppm for Gluten and 2.5 ppm for Peanut). This end of batch testing ensures us that there has been no contamination with equipment or ingredients. We do not distribute any Early’s Edibles Cookies until we have received approved results from this offsite laboratory.
On other days this bakery processes peanuts, tree nuts, wheat and soy products.
Are Early’s Edibles Cookies Peanut Free?
Yes. Sunflower seed butter is naturally Peanut Free. Sunflower seed butter is the main ingredient in Early’s Edibles cookies. In addition, we purchase high-quality Ingredients that are manufactured in facilities free from Peanuts and Tree Nuts. Please see ingredient list below.
In addition, we test each batch of baked cookies utilizing ELISA Peanut test methods to determine that Early’s Edibles Cookies are Peanut Free to the lowest detectable levels as required by the FDA – less than 2.5ppm (parts per million). This end of batch testing ensures us that there has been no contamination with equipment or ingredients.
We do not distribute any Early’s Edibles Cookies until we have received approved results from this offsite laboratory.
Are Early’s Edibles Cookies free from Tree Nuts?
Yes. We purchase high-quality ingredients from facilities where tree nuts are not present. Please see ingredient list below.
We do not perform Elisa testing for tree nuts as the ingredients we source to make Early’s Edibles cookies come from facilities where tree nuts are not present.
Are Early’s Edibles Cookies Gluten Free?
Yes. We purchase high-quality Gluten-Free Ingredients that are manufactured in their own facilities free from gluten. Please see ingredient list below.
In addition to purchasing high-quality ingredients, we test each batch of baked cookies by an independent outside laboratory utilizing ELISA Gluten test methods to determine that our cookies are Gluten Free to the lowest detectable levels, less than 10 ppm. (twice as stringent as FDA regulations which require less than 20 ppm)

Are Early’s Edibles Cookies Certified Organic?
No, Early’s Edibles Cookies are not Certified Organic. However, most of the ingredients we use are Certified Organic.
Are Early’s Edibles Cookies Certified Non-GMO?
No, Early’s Edibles Cookies are not Certified Non-GMO. However, the majority of our ingredients are Certified Non-GMO.
What is the shelf life of Early’s Edibles Cookies?
6 months. Every package sold is labeled with a best by date.
(If you store opened cookies in a freezer they will last a bit longer.)
I am not familiar with Sunflower Seed Butter, What is it?
Sunflower Seed Butter is made from the seeds of a sunflower plant. Harvested, roasted and processed in a dedicated Peanut Free and Tree Nut Free facility. Sunflower Seed Butter is the main ingredient in all flavors of Early’s Edibles cookies.
Where is your Sunflower Seed Butter from?
The Sunflower Seed Butter we source for Early’s Edibles Cookies is made from seeds grown in the United States in a region where peanuts are not grown thus eliminating the risk of cross-contamination. Fresh roasted and ground into the perfect consistency in a dedicated Peanut Free and Tree Nut Free facility. This Sunflower Seed Butter is Free from the Top 8 Allergens (Peanuts. Tree Nuts, Milk, Eggs. Fish. Crustacean, Shellfish, Wheat and Soybeans) Non-GMO, Sulfite Free and Certified Kosher. It is also free from Canada’s ten priority food allergens, which include mustard, sulfites and sesame.
What Gluten-free flour blend do you use?
We use a combination of mainly brown rice flour with an added mix of Potato Starch and Tapioca Starch.
Brown Rice Flour*
We purchase certified gluten-free, certified organic, Non-GMO brown rice flour. This ingredient is manufactured in a facility free of the top 8 allergens. The manufacturer of this ingredient conducts their own protocol and testing in order to adhere to the highest standards.
We purchase gluten-free, certified organic, certified Non-GMO potato starch. This ingredient is the only ingredient manufactured by this company.
We purchase Gluten-free, Non-GMO tapioca starch. This ingredient is produced in a dedicated Gluten-free facility. Tapioca starch is the only ingredient manufactured by this company.
*Each of these ingredients is certified allergen-free and manufactured in their own facilities that are free from peanuts and tree nuts.

Callebaut Cocoa Powder and Chocolate Chips
We use Dutch processed/alkalized Cocoa Powder.
Our chips contain three ingredients organic cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate and cocoa butter. Kosher Pareve Certified. No Soy.
Do you use gums or stabilizers in your recipes?
We do not use gums or stabilizers in our cookies. We are one of the only Gluten-free cookie companies that does not use stabilizers. We feel the Sunflower Seed Butter holds the cookie together very well. If your cookies break, please do not fret… crumble them on ice cream or in a shake. Our cookies are clean and simple just like you would make at home.
How can you label Peanut Free, Nut Free and Gluten-free on your packaging and then print on the reverse of your label that your facility is a “shared facility”?
We do this because since the beginning we have felt full disclosure is the best practice. We are not trying to trick or mislead customers. We chose to manufacture with a facility that has been producing baked goods with various restricted ingredients for over 25 years. We purchase high-quality ingredients, follow GMP requirements and utilize offsite testing.
